M2M @Iligan City

Can you guess where the third stop of CBN Asia’s Ministering to Ministers was?

The CBN Asia staff flew into this city bounded by Misamis Oriental on the north, by Cagayan de Oro City on the northeast, Bukidnon on the east, by Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur on the south and Iligan Bay on its west. It features flat cultivated coastal lands, the stalls along the road display its bounty harvest. Steep volcanic hills and mountains provide the city with 23 waterfalls and numerous cold springs, thus making it the City of Majestic Waterfalls.

One of the 10 largest cities in the Philippines, this is a highly urbanized city in the Northern Mindanao region. Being the Industrial Center of the South; steel, tinplate, cement and flour mills are housed here. This city also produces hydroelectric power for the region too (en.wikipedia.org).

Interestingly, it is a ‘no man’s land’ for tricycles and kalesas are still plying selected city streets.

Last May 9, CBN Asia ministered to the ministers in Iligan City. Three hundred and twelve of them gathered at the Elena Tower Inn, representing the ministerial fellowships in and around Iligan City, some even came from as far as Bukidnon and Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Crossed Over Citi Church led the crowd into a lively singing. Iligan City Councilor and Crossed Over Citi Church Pastor Bayani Areola acknowledged the guests from Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental.

M2M resident host and game master, Pastor Gene de Leon generously gave out ESV Study Bibles to qualified audience members: Sister Neth got it as a birthday gift. While the couple, Pastor Roy and wife Helen Sacayan, whose celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary, got an additional gift; a new moniker, “Helen of Roy”.

Six pastors manned up to Pastor Gene’s call, each have their own stories to tell. Bishop Osias has been serving the Lord for the past 43 years, Pastor Teofilo is on his 33th year while Pastor Boy is on his 17th year and has been married for twenty years. Pastor Al, who have won the night before the ‘Find Your Wife’s Lipstick Print Contest’ at the ACM dinner, was tagged as the Pastor Bruno Mars. Pastor Joel was celebrating his 50th birthday. Pastor Tony summed it up best, “being a Leviticus man is a sign of maturity, both in life and ministry”.

Sister Fe got rewarded for her apos – tolic ministry. Next to be called up on stage were ministers whose fathers and grandfathers were also pastors. Pastor Benjie came up, his dad is currently ministering in Negros Oriental. Pastora Cyd is married for 7 years and blessed with 3 children while Lei is a worship leader and a missionary – to – be.

The delegate that came the furthest was a missionary pastor from Zamboanga Sibugay, Pastora Miraflor. She’s nine years married to a very supportive husband, her best friend. She attended the M2M along with her mother, a missionary just like her.

In this Iligan City leg of M2M, the words of the wise king was underlined. Because God designed of spirit to need love, “He who finds a wife finds what is good, and receives favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22).

Both must allow the law of sowing and reaping to work in their marriage.

Just as a farmer will only reap if he sow, so must husbands and wives. For whatever a man (or woman) sows, that is what he (or she) will reap. Thus if he (or she) sow love, he (or she) will also reap love. And if they keep doing what they’re doing; sowing love and respect just as the Lord willed them to, they’ll get more of what they’ve got, love and respect.

If husbands and wives strive for this, Pastor Gene’s words earlier wouldn’t paint a frightening scene, “Marriage is not a word. It is a sentence, life sentence”.

Just some of the essential things ministers need to know in keeping their marriages ablaze.
